Hello again, fellow nerds! Our adventure theme is coming to an end, so we thought we'd gush about some of our favorite adventure crews and the reasons we'd die to be a part of them.
Prepare yourself: fangirling ahead.
THE AANG GANG
Even if we weren't some kind of bender, we'd love to kick it with this crew, riding Appa around while helping Aang in his quest to learn all the elements. If nothing else, we'd be great for moral support, and we'd love to join Sokka in all his training, chat with Uncle Iron over tea, and conspire to make Zutara an official thing.
CAMP HALF-BLOOD
I mean, who wouldn't want to go to a summer camp full of demigods and mythical creatures, then sneak off on a death-defying adventure?
Okay, maybe we'll read books in the Athena cabin and help everyone else on their quests.
THE TROLLHUNTERS
For the glory of Merlin, let us be part of the team! We'd have a blast practicing magic with Douxie and Claire, helping her keep the boys out of too much trouble, learning everything we could about troll lore from Blinky, and exploring Trollmarket.
It would so be worth all the training we'd inevitably have to go through.
THE DRAGON RIDERS OF BERK
Hanging out with the dragon riders would be an adventure in itself, but getting our own dragons would be fan-tastic.
THE THIRTEEN
While we'd happily join any and all of SJM's crews for adventure . . . wyvern-riding witches on a quest to break the curse on their homeland and end a centuries-old rivalry between clans? Where do we sign up?!
THE RAMPION CREW
Traversing fantastical lands would be great and all, but imagine traveling through space and to a lunar colony with a cyborg princess, her droid bestie (who is also the ship at times), and her ragtag crew of a wolf-hybrid soldier, shotgun-toting farmer, a cinnamon-roll tech wiz, and a slightly mad princess and her protector.
THE BEST FRIENDS SQUAD, AKA THE PRINCESSES OF POWER
Much like the elemental-wielding crew of the Aang Gang, the princesses of power would be a blast to team up with. And can you even have an adventure without Sea-Hawk, the pyromaniac pirate whose catchphrase is literally "ADVENTURE!"?
THE WINX CLUB / W.I.T.C.H. CREW
Both of these kickass, all-lady crews are comprised of faeries (or, in the case of W.I.T.C.H., fae-like guardians) who possess elemental magic and are responsible for protecting a magical realm.
What we wouldn't give to be able to fly and learn how to control our powers in the lands of Alfea or Meridian, to explore the palaces and mystical forests there.
THE CREW OF THE AVA-LEE
In Tricia Levenseller's Daughter of the Pirate King duology, the Ava-Lee is crewed almost entirely by women, and the captain is half-siren. With this bunch, we'd rule the seas and befriend monsters. What's not to love? Imagine all the books we could buy with the treasure from Isla de Canta alone!
(Pssst, Kori recently reviewed this duology for our adventure theme–– check it out!)
TEAM ZYM
The only thing better than riding a dragon would be adventuring through mystical lands on a quest to save a baby dragon––especially when said dragon has the personality of Zym! We'd geek out over knowledge with Callum, make Rayla teach us about the elves and how to fight, and help Ezran befriend all the critters, magical or otherwise. And, hopefully, get Claudia to quit being blinded by her father and use her powers for good . . . like teaching us magic!
It really is too bad we live in reality, where there's no magic or big adventures like these characters experience. At least we can read about them and watch them on TV!
Which of these crews would you most like to join? Leave a comment here, or let us know on bookstagram or Twitter! We'd love to chat about any of these series!
